The Winterton Cup
Continuing the long standing tradition first introduced by his grandfather Tom Winterton some fifty years ago, Richard Winterton Auctioneers were proud sponsors of a race at Meynell and South Staffordshire Point to Point held at Garthorpe Racecourse on Saturday 4th June.
It was a bright summers afternoon and the crowds turned out in their masses to watch the days racing, commencing with the pony racing followed by hound displays and ending with the horse racing.
The fifth race, the Open Maiden Race for the Lichfield Perpetual Challenge Cup was run late afternoon and after much excitement and some unexpected falls Number 10, Davie’s Delight ridden by Tommie O’Brien stormed to victory.
