The Travelling Auctioneers bring new BBC TV show to Stafford

TELEVISION cameras will be filming a new antiques show in Staffordshire next week and Lichfield’s auctioneer is helping out.

TV auctions expert Christina Trevanion of Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip and restoration maestro Will Kirk of The Repair Shop and Morning Live will be at Stafford Castle with a special auction from 12 noon on Wednesday, April 13, for BBC TV programme The Travelling Auctioneers.

The show sees Will and Christina sift through a family home in each episode and identifying items which have potential at auction, with Will deploying his restoration skills to bring new life to neglected treasures.

Richard Winterton Auctioneers of Lichfield and Tamworth is providing the logistics and staff for the auction, which will see Christina Trevanion yielding the gavel on the day.

On offer will be 65 lots featuring in the new show, which aims to unearth hidden gems and turn unwanted items into winners.

Furniture, silver, musical instruments, ceramics and collectables will all be going under the hammer, including objects as diverse as a 5ft 1ins tall Canton famille rose handpainted vase, electric banjo, bronze ship’s bell and a trombone.

Viewing in person takes place at The Lichfield Auction Centre, Wood End Lane, Fradley Park, WS13 8NF, by appointment only on Tuesday, April 12, between 9am and noon – call 01543 251081 or email office@richardwinterton.co.uk.

The April 13 auction takes place at Stafford Castle, Newport Road, Stafford, ST16 1DJ. Members of the public are welcome to attend – anyone wishing to join should arrive by 11.45am.

The Travelling Auctioneers is being produced for the BBC by STV Studios – makers of Antiques Road Trip and The Yorkshire Auction House – and will be shown on BBC One later this year.
