“The auction is an absolute must for anyone who likes music,” said valuer Stuart Hay, who has had the gargantuan task of cataloguing the sale.
“There’s 40,000 new and pre-owned records including picture discs as well as 12ins and 7ins vinyl and there’s also CDs – six lots of 400-plus CDs each.
“There’s every sort of music you can think of – 1950s, easy listening, 1980s pop, punk and death metal!
“One of the lots features 37 Beatles LPs. There really is something for everyone.”
Also up for auction are displays, music and film posters, a drumkit, guitar, electrical equipment – even the shop’s fixtures and fittings, CCTV system and burglar alarm.
Music memorabilia includes autographs, an amp signed by Oasis and a bodhran [Irish drum] signed by U2.
The independent record store closed in August after four years during which time it was named the eighth best independent music shop in the country.
The auction onsite at The Attic in Ashby on Wednesday, October 9, starts at 11am. Viewing is onsite the previous day, Tuesday, October 8, from 9am-5pm and from 9am on sale day until the auction starts.
