Special valuation day in Tamworth
TREASURES from the antique to the ultra-modern will be valued for free at a specialist valuation day in Tamworth on Monday, June 24.
Richard Winterton Auctioneers will be at The Castle Hotel, Ladybank, between 11am-12.30pm.
Experts will be giving auction estimates on all manner of items including watches, jewellery, whisky, wine, port, antiques and luxury designer goods.
Valuer Robert French, who specialises in wine, whisky and port, has made some jaw-dropping discoveries in Tamworth – including a bottle of 1968 Chateau Petrus Pomerol, which sold at auction in December for £1,200.
The wine was part of a collection including sought-after whiskies which sold in the same auction for hundreds of pounds per bottle.
A subsequent cellarful of wine port and whisky also from Tamworth sold at auction in March for £10,000.
Another notable Tamworth find was a rare alternate poster for the 1964 James Bond classic Goldfinger, which sold for £6,700 – thought to be the highest price ever paid at auction for such an item.
Also discovered in Dosthill, but at another address, was a signed letter from first man on the moon Neil Armstrong, on NASA letterheaded paper and sent one month before the lunar landing, which sold for £620.
Experts will also be on the lookout for good condition, second-hand designer items and watches.
A new department at Richard Winterton Auctioneers is dedicated exclusively to watches and designer goods including handbags, purses, scarves, shoes and lady's accessories such as gloves, hats, umbrellas, pens, belts, small leather goods, sunglasses and perfume.
Gentleman's accessories include designer gents’ bags, wallets, cufflinks, shoes, money clips, ties, belts, pens, lighters, sunglasses, luggage and briefcases.
