Sparkling start to 2025 with 5ct natural diamond ring in Lichfield auction

Stunning solitaire from an impressive single owner collection of jewellery

THE first auction of 2025 will see a stunning 5ct natural diamond ring go under the hammer with Richard Winterton Auctioneers.

Lot 410 in the Antique & Home Sale on Monday, January 6, the ring is part of an impressive collection of 20th century jewellery, mostly gold.

Consigned by clients in Yoxall, the collection came in to The Lichfield Auction Centre, Wood End Lane, Fradley Park, for a routine valuation towards the end of 2024.

The hallmarked 18ct white gold ring is set with a round brilliant cut  natural 5ct diamond and is accompanied by a Birmingham Assay Office Gemmology Lab report stating weight 5.00 carats estimated, shape and cut Round Brilliant, measurements 10.78 - 10.86 x 6.80mm, clarity I2 and colour K.

Other highlights in the collection include Lot 413, a platinum three stone diamond ring with a central stone approximately 0.80ct flanked by two outer diamonds each approximately 0.50ct.

Lot 414 is an 18ct gold diamond cluster ring, collet set with a central old cut diamond of approximately 1.50ct, clarity assessed as SI1/S12, within a surround of estimated total diamond weight 0.60ct.

The auction at the Fradley Park saleroom on Monday, January 6, is  in Richard Winterton Auctioneers' new one-day format and the catalogue can be viewed online now.

Taking place on Mondays only instead of previous two-day auctions , sales now commence at 9am with garden effects, tools, electricals, furniture and furnishings.

Jewellery, watches, coins and silver go under the hammer from 10.30am, followed by pictures, ceramics, glass, collectables and household items.
