Double success at 2024 Lichfield District Beacon Awards
THERE were cheers and applause as Richard Winterton Auctioneers scooped not one but two awards at a prestigious event celebrating the area's best businesses and community heroes.
The 2024 Beacon Awards culminated in a glittering evening at the National Memorial Arboretum on Thursday, October 10.
On the night, Richard Winterton Auctioneers was crowned Best Small Business and also won the Customer Service Award.
Auctioneer and managing director Richard Winterton said: "I am absolutely thrilled to accept the awards for Best Small Business and Customer Service.
"2024 has been a massive year for us, marking 160 years of Wintertons auctioneering in Staffordshire.
"We've launched a brand new website and celebrated some wonderful personal milestones including 50 years' service by a treasured colleague.
"Going forward, we look forward to opening The Auction Cafe in the heart of Lichfield, bringing specialist valuations together with quality coffee and cake.
"We were really excited to get two nominations for the Lichfield District Beacon Awards and to win both categories was an incredibly special moment.
"Jan and I want to say a huge thanks to our wonderful staff and loyal customers for their support.
"We couldn't be more proud."

SOME of the best businesses and community heroes in Lichfield District were honoured last night (Thursday, October 10) at this year’s special Beacon Awards celebration.
The event, organised by Lichfield District Council, saw business owners and their teams gather with district ‘heroes’ and council representatives for a gala celebration at the National Memorial Arboretum.
The compere for the evening was Lichfield District Councillor Alex Farrell who welcomed the nominees and guests to the Aspects conference centre.
Following a delicious meal awards were presented in numerous categories:
- Best Start Up Business. Winner – Insightful Beginnings; Highly Commended – Lichfield Garden Buildings Ltd; Commended – Luxe Nails and Beauty Academy
- Best Micro Business. Winner – Hunnypot Cottage Bakery; Highly Commended – Adept Central Ltd; Commended – Grace and May Home
- Best Large Business. Winner – Lichfield Garrick Theatre; Highly Commended – Davisons Law; Commended – Legionella and Fire Safe Services
- Best Small Business. Winner – Richard Winterton Auctioneers; Highly Commended – Green Thumb Lichfield and Walsall; Commended – Kind Consultancy
- Customer Service Award. Winner – Richard Winterton Auctioneers; Highly Commended – The Listening Centre EAP Ltd; Commended – Kembla Ltd
- Tourism Business Award. Winner – Lichfield Cathedral; Highly Commended – Lichfield Garrick Theatre; Commended – Lichfield Maize Maze
- Hospitality Business Award. Winner – The George Hotel, Lichfield; Highly Commended – Le Reve Cocktail Bar
- Commitment to the Environment. Winner – Lichfield Maize Maze; Highly Commended – Grace and May home; Commended – RAB Consultants Ltd.
- LDC Recognition Award. Winner – Hollies Guest House; Highly Commended – Sally Wagstaff Aesthetics; Commended – Gartmore Riding School

- Inspirational Impact Award. Winner – Sharon McCormick; Highly Commended – Kathy Coe.
