Richard Winterton Auctioneers sponsors Lichfield Cathedral's spectacular 2024 Christmas Light Show

December 3rd, 2024

Lichfield Cathedral Christmas Illuminations 2024

12 Days of Christmas runs from December 16-22

RICHARD Winterton Auctioneers is delighted to once again sponsor Lichfield Cathedral's spectacular Christmas Light Show.

Working alongside the acclaimed team at Illuminos, the 2024 light show is themed with the 12 Days of Christmas in mind – with a Lichfield Cathedral twist, of course.

The Light Show runs from December 16-22 from 5.30pm and is hugely popular, with people travelling from all over the region to experience this joyful celebration of Christmas.

Beginning at the Dam Street entrance to the Cathedral Close, ticket holders will be greeted by the friendly team of volunteers and will embarck on a journey of wonder.

First stop will be the light show projected on to the former Bishop’s Palace, then on to the show-stopping West Front show.

Ticket holders then continue inside the cathedral where local choirs will be singing popular carols and there is a chance to visit the ever-popular Christmas Tree Festival, in which Richard Winterton Auctioneers also takes part.

Viewing the Crib Scene gives people an opportunity to reflect, and candles will be available for anyone who wishes to light a candle, perhaps in memory of those we will miss at Christmas, but also as a sign of hope.

Dean of Lichfield, The Right Reverend Jan McFarlane, said: “We love welcoming everyone to the cathedral and the Christmas light show is one one of the highlights of the year.

"In all the busyness of the run up to Christmas we hope that the light show gives us all a time to pause and to be inspired and encouraged  - and to remember the story of the one whose birth lies right at the very heart of our celebrations.”

Auctioneer Richard Winterton added: "Lichfield Cathedral's Chrstmas Light Show stuns hundreds of visitors every year and we are delighted to continue our sponsorship of such a wonderful spectacle which is such an important part of the festive season in our city."

Along the journey both inside and outside the cathedral will be a 12 Days of Christmas trail to follow, exploring the meaning behind each of the 12 days and giving vistors an opportunity to reflect and make pledges into the coming year.

New for 2024 are special ‘Relaxed Sessions’ on December 19, where provision has been made for those who would benefit from a more relaxed and supportive experience with fewer people and a quieter soundtrack.

These relaxed sessions will be outdoor only and come at a reduced ticket price.

Tickets start at £10 for the Christmas Light Show and £5 for Relaxed Sessions. Tickets can be found on Lichfield Cathedral's website and early time slots are already selling out fast, so grab your tickets while you can!
