Richard Winterton Auctioneers are pleased to report a very successful inaugural Retro sale. The sale kicked off with speakers and stereos, a period high fidelity music system sold under the hammer for £220 two pairs of Larsen pyramided LP720 omnidirectional speakers realised £300 and a walnut cased polyphon £400. A blue cased HMV picnic gramophone sold for £220.



Pictures and prints were strong on the day with a single owner collection of scenic landscapes by the local artist Michael David Barnfather realising a combined total of £1045 and a Ronald Searle limited edition print, The Bigger Splash, after competition from phone bids, internet and room bids eventually being knocked down for £440.



As has become expected from the Fradley Park saleroom, furniture sold well over estimate, with a bow front arts and crafts display cabinet selling for £550 and a flat front example £360 and a retro mustard vinyl corner suite sold for £300. A butterscotch Bakelite light fitting even with damage to the opaque glass shades caused huge interest on the day and finally sold for £240 against a £50-£80 guide.



Not to be out done, smalls sold well with a lalique Bamara seated lion realising £300 and two deco bronze female figures made £400.
