Lower bids exterminated as Doctor Who fan snaps up life-size Dalek at Toy Sale
A DOCTOR Who fan exterminated all the other bids to secure their very own life-size Dalek at Richard Winterton’s Toy Sale on Monday, May 21.
The 160cm tall, 100cm long and 60cm wide fibreglass and plastic Dalek sold for £340, well over its £250 estimate.
We expect the buyer won’t be able to resist climbing inside the wheeled metal frame!
Also in the sale was a “very rare” vintage toy Birmingham bus – a 55cm-long model which is quite the rarity due to it being decked out in Birmingham Corporation blue and cream livery, complete with the city coat of arms. The large size Tri-ang pressed steel pull-along toy sold for £280.
Also selling well were trains and railwayana and die-cast toys including Dinky.
“There were plenty of people in the room and also a strong presence on the internet,” said valuer Jon Price.
