Lichfield auctions to warm up July 2019
A CRACKING quartet of sale days bookended by appearances at two of our local shows will be keeping all of us at Richard Winterton Auctioneers busy as the summer season gets into full swing.
On Sunday (July 14) we will be at the Ashby Show - look out for our marquee decked out with a display of some of the fascinating and fabulous things we handle in the auction world!
Then Monday (July 15) sees our inaugural Watch & Designer Sale at 6pm in St Mary’s in the Market Square in the heart of Lichfield city centre. We'll also be doing our regular free valuations of watches, jewellery and designer items at St Mary's that day from 9.30am-12.30pm.
As well as items including Chanel handbags and Rolex watches, the designer auction includes a trio of charity lots in aid of We Love Lichfield – a cricket bat signed by cricketer Graeme Swann and sports broadcaster Pat Murphy, a 2019 ICC World Cup England jersey fully signed by the England team at Edgbaston before the semi final against Australia and, courtesy of Michael’s Menswear, a limited edition RAF Red Arrows 2019 signed by ‘Red 1’ to ‘Red 10’ and the aerobatic team’s commanders.
Viewing will be at The Lichfield Auction Centre on Saturday, July 13, from 9.30am until noon and then at St Mary’s in the Market Square, Lichfield city centre, on the Monday from midday.
Tuesday (July 16) starts with one of our regular jewellery auctions at 9.30am and then a specialist Coins, Medals & Militaria Sale at 12 noon - click here for more details and online catalogue links.
Viewing will be at The Lichfield Auction Centre on Saturday, July 13, from 9.30am until noon; on Monday, July 15, between 9am-4pm; and on the morning of the sale from 8.30am.
We'll also be offering our weekly '#TreasureTuesday' valuations across the board from 9.30am-4pm on July 16.
The next day starts with our popular ‘Wednesday Pictures’ section from 9.30am followed by ceramics. Also up for auction that day is Lichfeldian historian Laura Bowcutt’s superb archive of the city's pubs and her collection of Lichfield postcards.

And on the Thursday, July 18, is our Railwayana Sale covering a wide range of fascinating items large and small. Highlights include a platform bench slat marked Lichfield Trent Valley, a quantity of Signal Box lever plates from Lichfield City, a large GWR Platform One sign, a L.N.W.R. brass bell, station name boards, cast iron gradient and boundary markers, wagon and bridge plates, assorted railway notices, locomotive whistles, signal box diagrams, maps, plans, prints, books, photographs and tickets.
The railwayana will be followed by garden items, tools and wide selection of furniture.
