Lichfield auction's riveting reveal on what makes a watchmaker tick

A HOROLOGICAL haul dialling into what makes a watchmaker tick is coming under the hammer with Lichfield’s auctioneer on Monday.

Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ Antiques & Home Sale on April 26 includes 45 lots presenting a fascinating insight into the life of a horologist.

The absorbing array features tools for legendary Swiss brands such as Rolex, Omega and Tissot and a huge selection of watch crystals, dials, movements and other components such as cogs, springs and crowns.

There are also pocket watches and wristwatches including a 1960s Rolex Precision and collectable Omegas such as a Constellation and a 9ct gold model, plus vintage cabinets, watch cleaning machines, a watchmaker's treadle lathe and official Rolex and Tudor spare parts catalogues.

The collection, accumulated by a late Midlands horologist, dates back more than half a century and is anticipated to realise £3,000.

It goes under the hammer online from The Lichfield Auction Centre on Monday, April 26, as Lots 143 to 189. The auction starts at 9.30am.
