James Bond film posters feature in Collectors auction
TWO sought-after classic James Bond movie posters will be auctioned in Lichfield next month.
Iconic artwork for the Sean Connery James Bond films From Russia With Love and Goldfinger are included in Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ Collectors Sale on June 11.
From Russia With Love was Connery’s second Bond film in 1963. The poster features artwork by Renato Fratini and is valued at £1,000 to £1,500.
“Sadly this one has some creasing and a tear on the corner – mint condition examples have sold for £4,500,” said Rob French, customer relations manager at Richard Winterton Auctioneers.
The Goldfinger artwork from 1964 is a ‘Style B’ poster by Robert Brownjohn. It is valued at £1,500 to £2,000 but such posters have been known to fetch up to £3,000.
Both artworks were printed by Stafford & Co, the main printers for film posters at the time.
Mr French added: “Both these posters are highly collectable and we were really excited to find them.
“I’m sure there will be a lot of interest from James Bond aficionados.”
The Collectors Sale also includes, stamps, records, hi-fi equipment, cameras, enamel advertising, books, maps and manuscripts.
It takes place at The Lichfield Auction Centre at Wood End Lane, Fradley Park, on Monday, June 11. Viewing is on Saturday, June 9, from 9.30am to noon and on the morning of sale from 8.30am.
