A FASCINATING collection of vintage tools is being showcased in a special online timed auction from Lichfield.

Richard Winterton Auctioneers is running the sale until Sunday, March 14 and you can browse the catalogue and bid online here.

The huge array of hundreds of individual items is catalogued across 109 lots and includes tools for shipwrights, carpenters, coopers and all manner of practical applications for woodworking.

There are saws, axes, hatchets, adzes, hammers, planes, chisels, twybills, mallets, braces, calking tools, gouges, boring tools, screwdrivers, drawknives, marking and mortice gauges and braces, dating back to the 19th century and beyond.

Lot 854 includes an 18th century Isaac 9½ ins felling axe; Lot 855 contains six ancient iron axe heads possibly Roman and Bronze Age plus a flint axe head.

The sale includes a huge array of axes.

There are also many quality tools ready to start work again immediately such as chisels, saws, hammers and screwdrivers.
