Hair today, gone tomorrow! Lichfield porter's charity chop raises £1,500 for Little Princess Trust
A LICHFIELD man has generated a hair-raising sum for charity by lopping off his luscious locks.Liam Thompstone, 26, waved goodbye to his shoulder-length hair earlier this month in aid of Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.
Liam, a porter for Richard Winterton Auctioneers at The Lichfield Auction Centre, Fradley Park, grew his locks for 18 months in preparation for the cut, which was announced back in March.
His charity chop has so far raised £1,523 and the sum continues to grow.
Alongside the cash, Liam also donated his mane so it can be transformed into a real hair wig.
“It has been a brilliant and humbling experience to do this for the third time,” he said.
“I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored me. Little Princess Trust is a brilliant charity and I am proud to contribute to their work in any way I can.”
As well as providing real hair wigs, Little Princess Trust is one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK and relies solely on the generosity of supporters who help the organisation giving hair and hope to thousands of children and young people.
