Free valuations in Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield

FIND out if you are unwittingly sitting on a fortune at our free valuation events in Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield.

A team of valuers from Richard Winterton Auctioneers will be at the Castle Hotel, Ladybank, Tamworth, from 11am-12.30pm on Monday, September 24, offering free valuations of items ranging from fine art, silver and pictures to toys, railwayana, medals and militaria, books and maps.

A previous valuation event at the hotel's Wedgwood Suite saw more than a dozen people bring their heirlooms and curiosities to show Mr Winterton – a familiar face from TV shows such as Bargain Hunt and Dickinson's Real Deal – and his team.

“We were delighted to meet so many interesting people from Tamworth who brought in a diverse array of treasures for us to see,” the auctioneer said.

“Items included collectable toys, coins and banknotes, militaria, records and vintage Champagne.”

After the event at the Castle Hotel, the same team will set up at The Trinity Centre in Sutton Coldfield from 2-3.30pm for more free valuations.

An ‘unusual’ signed limited edition print by iconic industrial artist LS Lowry sold for £1,500 in Mr Winterton's September Fine & Decorative Arts Sale on behalf of a client from the town.

Published in 1971, ‘Three Men And A Cat’ (pictured above) was estimated to fetch between £800 and £1,000.

“The print is in good clean condition with unfaded colours,” said senior valuer Sarah Leedham.

“It is also noticeably less industrial than Lowry’s work tends to be – it’s a more unusual example of his art.”

The family firm holds regular valuation events at The Trinity Centre.

Mr WInterton added: “If you can't make it on Monday, don't worry - we’ll be in Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield on a regular basis and we also carry out free valuations every Tuesday at the auction house, with jewellery specialists on hand every Friday.”

Free general valuations at The Lichfield Auction Centre at Wood End Lane, Fradley Park, take place every Tuesday from 9.30am-4pm and free jewellery valuations every Friday from 9.30am-4pm.
