“At the moment stamp market is very buoyant for good quality items, maybe because people have rekindled old hobbies because of lockdowns,” he said.
“Prices at the moment are particularly good for Great Britain and Commonwealth single items and collections."
Around 160 complete sheets of stamps from the 1950s and 1960s recently made £3,000.
Richard Winterton's latest Tamworth auction saw sales of stamps totalling £9,260, with 160 complete sheets from the 1950s and 1960s taking £3,000.
A previous sale featured a sheet of 1960s Great Britain stamps with a rare printing error, uncovered by Mr Ives at a philately valuation at the Lower Gungate saleroom.
The block of 30 4d stamps commemorating the centenary of Joseph Lister’s discovery of antiseptic surgery attracted a huge amount of interest and went under the hammer for £750.
