February 2nd, 2016

Auction report: Vintage Car, Motorbike and Automobilia sale

Vintage Car, Motorbike and Automobilia speed away

January saw the first of our quarterly Vintage Car, Motorbike and Automobilia sales of 2016, with over 80 lots entered. Pre-auction, there was an abundance of interest in all the lots, with the vintage James and BSA Bantam motorbikes attracting national interest.

The highlight of the automobilia section was lot 233 - A Bentley 1930's winged 'B' car mascot signed Joseph Fray Birmingham - soaring passed its guide, selling for £340.

The private single owner collection of motorbikes and bicycles included 3 James Captain motorbikes from the years 1955 and 1958 as well as 3 BSA Bantam motorbikes. The top selling item was lot 780, a 1960 BSA M21 motorbike with an AA sidecar which, after fierce competition both in the room and online sold for £2,600. The total collection amassed a total of £10,000.

Also entered was a 1963 Morris Minor 1000 Convertible in petrol green. Again, after significant interest the bidding finished at £4,000.

The next Vintage Car, Motorbike and Automobila sale will be held on Thursday 31st March. We are delighted to have already consigned various AA related items and are inviting further entries. Please call the Lichfield Auction Centre on 01543 251081 for more information.
