Half-length seated portrait of a gentleman with companion study of a lady. Oil on canvas.
We are advised by the vendor that the gentleman is believed to be of a former Major of Brighton and the lady is his wife.
The portraits are together with a framed illuminated scroll commemorating the birthday of Councillor Edward White and his gift of £1,000 to Brighton Medical Institutions in 1896.

The November 30 sale will be broadcast live from The Lichfield Auction Centre and features more than 1,000 lots.
These include an “Aladdin’s cave” of more than 100 clocks and other timepieces spanning two centuries of horological history.
