A cornucopia of cool treasure
THEY say variety is the spice of life – well, the catalogue for our Fine & Decorative Arts Sale on June 19 is jam-packed with flavour, writes Alex Keller.
From jewellery and silver to ceramics, glass, works of art, pictures, rare ports, wine and whisky and furniture ranging from the 18th century to modern mid-20th century design, it’s a cornucopia of treasure spread across 600+ lots.
Let’s shift the focus on to some of this incredible sale’s quirkier items.
Lot 481: James Bond Bollinger Champagne
This one will have fans of Bond and Champagne in double-0 heaven! It’s a bottle of Bollinger ‘James Bond 007 2002 Brut’ commemorating the 50th anniversary of the franchise and it comes in a special presentation case complete with combination lock – just the thing to keep your Champagne out of the clutches of SMERSH or SPECTRE! Est: £80 - £120 plus Buyer's Premium
Lot 83: Private registration plate 4 OLD
Gold! Always believe in… This could be perfect for someone in the jewellery trade – or even an aspiring Bond villain (who better check out the previous item, too!). It’s a private registration car number plate 4 OLD complete with the necessary retention document. I should also point out that this photograph is of a mock number plate created for illustrative purposes only! Est: £6,000 - £8,000 plus Buyer's Premium
Lots 316 and 317: Gordon Banks football contracts
We have had a huge amount of interest in these, both from the media and potential buyers. Three contracts over two lots, the first for Leicester City 1964 to 1966 – right up to the 1966 World Cup – and then two for Stoke City dated 1970 (the year of Banks’ legendary World Cup save against Pele) and 1971.
