Antique Firearms, Sporting Guns & Taxidermy

Overview

We handle all types of .22, .177 and BB air pistols and air rifles, from vintage and modern spring piston to pre-charged pneumatic and CO2-powered guns.

Popular brands at auction include Air Arms, Weihrauch, BSA (Birmingham Small Arms), Gamo and Victory.

Please note that we no longer sell any type of firearm which requires a license or accept such for valuation, storage or disposal.

Clients needing assistance in such matters are advised to contact their local police station or Midcounties Blacking in Lichfield, getting in touch first before transporting any items.

We do handle all types of antique firearms such as those with obsolete calibres which do not require licensing and are sold as exempt items under Section 58 (2) of the 1968 Firearms Act and the Antique Firearms Regulations 2021, to be held as a curiosity or ornament. If you are in doubt as to whether your item falls into this category, contact Midcounties Blacking as detailed above.

Flintlock and percussion pistols which fall under this category are especially collectable and remain in demand from dealers and private individuals.

Decommissioned firearms with deactivation certificate and official proof house stamp may also go to auction.

In addition, this department handles military and antique swords, knives and bayonets, plus all types of legal pen knives.

Please note that we no longer accept any sort of fantasy weapon including ornamental swords and role play replicas.

Other items dealt with by this department include antique taxidermy both cased and mounted of fish, game birds, rabbits, ducks and wild birds, alongside other related works such as antlers.
